Nebula AI Case Explorer™ | Key People

Key People are the individuals the AI identifies as significant to the case. This list is seeded by the key people you named in your case summary, then expanded by what the AI finds in the documents themselves.

Three tiers, by design:

  • Key Person — the individuals the AI is identified who are potentially central to the case. A Key Person may also be a Custodian.
  • Custodian — the document custodians in your data source. A custodian, in the eDiscovery sense, is the person a document or file was originally collected from (e.g., the mailbox owner an email was pulled from) — not necessarily someone central to the case. A custodian may also be a Key Person.
  • Other — people the AI noticed but wasn't confident enough to flag as a Key Person and isnot a custodian.

Showing "Other" rather than hiding it is a deliberate transparency choice — you get to decide for yourself whether someone the AI didn't flag actually matters. There's currently no button to directly promote someone from Other to Key Person; if someone belongs there, the fastest fix is to add them to your case summary's Key People section and re-run.

Working with the list: search by name, and sort by relevant docs, total docs, or name. Each person's card shows their document count.

Person detail view gives you:

  • Summary tab — an AI-generated summary, the person's latest title and company, any known aliases, their connections to other key people, and their linked Key Events or Storylines.
  • Documents tab —documents associated with the selected Key Person.

A person-filtered timeline will be available in a subsequent release, which is useful for spotting communication gaps — periods with unexpectedly few documents for someone you'd expect to be active.
