Nebula AI Case Explorer™ | Key Events
Key Events
Key Events are events extracted directly from your documents, using the case summary to determine those key events. Key events are represented in two ways:
- Timeline view — a chronological view you can zoom from years down to weeks, with multiple storylines shown at once. Think of it as an evidence board you can zoom in and out of.
- Storylines view — parallel narrative threads, like concurrent chapters that can overlap in time. You can think of storylines as sub-plots within a plot (case/investigation) of a book or movie.
Events with only a partial date (month and/or year, not a full date) are marked accordingly, and undated events get their own dedicated view rather than being silently dropped from the Key Events view. Partial dates are graphed and included in the summaries of the 1st of a given month/year.
Navigating the Graphs
- Zooming – You can use the – and + buttons to zoom in and out of the timeline or drag the slide.
- Date Range – you can select the start and end dates you’d like to focus on.
- Columns/Stacks – each column / stack in the graphs represent a week.
- Storyline Filters – selecting a given storyline below the graph can filter the graphs, weeks, and events.
Tip: You can also use the scroll wheel or scroll gesture to zoom in and out of the timeline and storyline graphs.
Viewing Events and Supporting Documents
Selecting the week on Timeline or a single storyline below the graph will open a panel on the right that displays the events and supporting document(s) where the event was extracted from. For each week/storyline, you can see the number of events, number of documents included, relevant storylines, and date ranges. If any text is cut off, you can hover over the text to view the complete text.
The right panel can be manually resized by clicking the border on the left of the panel and dragging. It can be closed by selecting the x in the top right of the panel.
